Kitimbwa Pupils Visit the Judiciary Headquarters

A total of 60 children of aged 10 to14 years from Kitimbwa Child Development Centre (Church of Uganda Mukono Diocese) were at the Judiciary Headquarters on Thursday May 2, 2024 to understand how courts operate.

The Centre's head teacher explained that the pupils had come for a career exposure tour, have a physical experience on how court looks like, how sessions are conducted and learn about the entire Judiciary of the Republic of Uganda.

The Criminal Division's Deputy Registrar, HW Festo Nsenga, took the pupils through the structure of the Judiciary and the courts' constitutional mandate to adjudicate. One of the highlights of the interaction was a role play of a criminal trial and the different officers involved.

The Judiciary Principal Communications Officer, Ms Sheila Wamboga, highlighted for them through the different courts that make the Judiciary and moderated the question and answer session.

Among the questions they asked was what it takes to be a Chief Justice, the difference between a lawyer and a Judicial Officer and why cases are handled by courts.

All these questions were ably answered by HW Nsenga who encouraged the pupils to remain in school and study hard to achieve their greatest potential.

Each of the pupils and their teachers were given leaflets and the Judiciary Insider Magazine explaining how courts operate and were encouraged to be ambassadors of the Judiciary.

The climax of the study tour was a tour of the Judiciary headquarters.
